Non-equilibrium gas flows are critical across numerous industrial sectors, underpinning a wide array of technological applications. These include fluidic micro-actuators for active aerodynamic flow control, vacuum generators, low-pressure systems, micro-sensors for flow and temperature, pressure gauges, micro gas analyzers, and micro heat exchangers used in electronics cooling or chemical process thermal management. In such systems, the interactions between gas molecules, within the gas or with solid surfaces, play a pivotal role. However, many challenges remain unresolved, hindering further technological advancements and optimization of designs. Addressing these issues is essential to unlock the full potential of non-equilibrium gas transport phenomena.
The conference aims to foster progress in this field by encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers and engineers from academia, research institutions, and industry. By bridging these communities, the event seeks to drive innovation and enhance both research and practical applications.
The NEGF conference series, held every three years, began in 2012 at Skiathos Island, Greece, organized by the University of Thessaly. Subsequent conferences took place at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2015, the University of Strasbourg in 2018 (NEGF18), and again in Eindhoven in 2023 (NEGF23). Each event has been a resounding success, drawing between 60 to 100 participants.
The 5th edition of the NEGF conference will be held from March 25th to 27th, 2026, in Toulouse, France.
